Patriot Environmental Services Responds to Freight Train Derailment
Quick response and technical expertise aid in toxic materials spill cleanup
Patriot Environmental Services emergency response and hazmat teams arrived onsite within one hour to assist railroad crews and local officials in responding to six derailed tank cars, including two carrying hydrochloric acid that leaked when the train came to a crashing halt along a stretch of highway in Central California early Monday morning.
The derailment shut down California Highway 99 in Tulare County in both directions until assessments were made and deemed safe for road travel.
“Hazmat derailment response is one of our specialties, so we were able to quickly and safely react with the right equipment and experienced manpower,” said David Larsen, area director of Patriot Environmental Services.
The Patriot Environmental Services crews worked alongside first responders for more than 30 hours to contain and clean up the spilled acid and remediate the environment to help get the tank cars removed, rails repaired and the highway reopened.
Patriot Environmental Services has been providing emergency response services for more than 20 years, gaining a reputation as a trusted source to manage emergencies of all types and sizes.
